Mar 21, 2005 — PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - Internet conglomerate IAC/InterActiveCorpon Monday said it would buy Web search engine Ask Jeeves Inc. for $1.85 billion to capitalize on growth in the Internet advertising and search markets.
The purchase will pit IAC more squarely against Web search giants Google Inc., Yahoo Inc. and Microsoft Corp. at a time when Internet media companies are again selling at steep valuations.
