Approaching Mars

That's what Earth is doing right now, at 23,500 mph.

Mars will grow brighter and brighter in the night sky until October 31st, and "blaze forth against the dark background of space with a splendor that outshines Sirius and rivals the giant Jupiter himself," as Percival Lowell described a similar approach in the 19th century.
