Robert Scoble's blogging wife Maryam, who used to say she'd never blog, writes a letter to her son Patrick as he enters the blogosphere.
It's actually kinda sweet, advising Patrick to ignore trolls and write for the future. We may write letters like this to our children someday.

My Avatars & Me
"A Multi User Dimension can become a context for discovering who one is and wishes to be. In this way, the games are laboratories for the construction of identity."
-- Sherry Turkle, Massachusetts Intstitute of Technology.
Robbie Cooper puts photos of gamers next to their avatars.
Hey, that sounds fun! Let's try it.

Me and my Guild Wars necromancer. Bonelace would actually make an imposing, if mildly uncomfortable, business suit.

Me and my Guild Wars mesmer. No, he does not use his nipples to mesmerize people.
Why stop at comparison? Let's go for fusion!

Here's Rupert Murdoch after he completes his rumored plans to buy Guild Wars' developer.

Guest-Blogging on Pinoy Tech Blog
I've just been chosen to write for the Philippines' top tech blog, PinoyTechBlog.
I currently write for Infotech Philippines, and it's been a wild ride so far. Team blogging is an experience I would recommend to anyone. This is going to be fun. =D

McDonalds Reads Fan Blogs
Every blogger should know his readers. That's why blogger McC knows through his server logs that McDonald's reads his McDonald's fan blog, McChronicles, even when they don't comment.
Too many companies today don't even surf online buzz about them, much less subscribe or comment. Keep surfing, Ronald McDonald.

Social Media at the National E-commerce Congress
Gabby Dizon and I talked about Creating Consumer Evangelists: Blogging and Other Participative Technologies at the 4th National E-commerce Congress Tuesday.
Yes, I know. The title Creating Consumer Evangelists sounds similar to the title of the book Creating Customer Evangelists. I thought up the topic title weeks before I found out about the book. So sue me.
Gabby delivered an excellent presentation on the mindset of consumer evangelists and the companies that support them, along with resources to help companies get started. Just dig his photo of an orgasmically-pleased tissue paper fanatic, and stories of people actually donating money to help out their favorite companies.

Pathfinder's Tatu Zablan (left) was kind enough to join us on stage and explore how his company can get deeper into the global conversation. He's already planning to put RSS on his company's online forum. Speaking of which, Tatu, check out RSS Content Syndicator for phpBB. Photo courtesy of Jerry, who's been a shutterbug of late with her new 5 Mpx cam.
We also screened examples of viral video (numa numa i-ay...), and how companies can leverage the prosumer's republishing power. Check out Chicken Little doing the Numa Numa and Bill Gates in Napoleon Dynamite and The Matrix.

Philippine Online Game List Updated
John "Laibcoms" Cuneta updates his list of Philippine online games -- now up to 28. Check it out at its new location here.
The top earner on the list makes around US$ 1.7 million a month; imagine how much revenue all 28 of them generate. As a Korean game exec opines, the Philippine online game publishing industry is only two years behind Korea's.
Hey, Dondi, when the CICT develops something like the KGDI, you should hire Laibcoms. My recorded gaming hours can't hold a candle to his. ;)

One "Ring" to Rule Them All!
Verizon hasn't given up on the telco monopolies' moneymaking dream of the idiotproof locked-in unified access device. They've just released the ambitiously-named Verizon One Phone -- a POST phone, DSL modem, rudimentary family PIM, and wireless router all in one.

Okay, I can forgive Verizon for this (admittedly slick) effort at pandering to dummies. After all, they've got FiOS -- 15 Mbps for US$ 44.95.
Hey, Philippine telco monopoly PLDT, when will you realize that US$ 55 for 1 Mbps is just silly?
