Revenge of the Myopic Terrorists

I haven't finished Metal Gear Solid 3 yet, and already I see a trailer for the online version.

Either I should play more, or stop torturing enemy guards for fun. For the next version, Hideo Kojima should take a hint from R.O.S.E. Online and let players board Metal Gears.

That Podcast Song

"I heard it on a podcast…rockin’ fuckin’ radio
You want it, you got it…just download it and pod it
On a podcast…no one’s gonna stop ya
Tell the FCC to stick it…kick it…
The revolution’s on"

"I Died." -- Bulb

All those "change a lightbulb" jokes now need one more guy -- to receive an SMS notification.

Fujitsu's new lightbulb texts you when it dies.

Birth of the Machine

(Via Alistair) Alvin Toffler predicted that the blurring of the line between producers and consumers would create "prosumers". The Cluetrain Manifesto showed us the rise of networked markets. Time Europe refers to the rise of personal content as the "referral economy". Sun's Jonathan Schwartz predicts an Age of Participation.

In his new article We Are the Web, Kevin Kelly dares make even bolder claims:

"We think we are merely wasting time when we surf mindlessly or blog an item, but each time we click a link we strengthen a node somewhere in the Web OS, thereby programming the Machine by using it...

There is only one time in the history of each planet when its inhabitants first wire up its innumerable parts to make one large Machine. Later that Machine may run faster, but there is only one time when it is born.

You and I are alive at this moment."

Space Browser

NTT is releasing a 3D web browser in October.

Apparently, somebody over there's been watching Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.

Spot the Difference

This is the new logo for Internet Explorer 7. Note that they've put the word "Windows" in there; that never appeared in previous IE brandings.

Tightening brand integration in response to the success of Firefox, perhaps?
